February 16, 2013: $25 Contest Question

This week’s question is what super power would you like to have? Why?

1. Telepathic ability to read people’s thoughts.

2. Telepathic ability to move things.

3. Telepathic ability to change matter.

After speaking with the legal head at Blizzard entertainment, I have decided not to use World of Warcraft as my online computer game. Instead, I have contracted with a computer programmer to help me design my own game to use for my novel, Boston’s Quest.

February 2, 2013: $25 Contest Question

So my question this week is what qualities do you like in your female heroines?

An important part of characterization is giving your main character enough strengths so that you are not turned off by his/her weaknesses, as seen in this quote from a book review I read recently from the blog, Ink & Page, about the main female character from “Beautiful Creatures”:

…Self-centered, she (the main character) didn’t even try to get along with anyone… She was more of a sad-sack that was just going to accept what was happening to her without a question. She acted like she wanted to fight, but I never knew if she was going to or not. If they had such a great love, then it is surprising they didn’t try harder.

I am looking for input from my readers so I don’t make the same mistake!

January 26, 2013: Contest Question

Situation:  Boston & Jason have started dating outside of high school. Boston likes Jason, but she doesn’t tell her friends she is dating him, because her friends think he is a computer nerd. Jason shows up at the high school to see Boston when she is outside with her group of friends.

Question: How should Boston react?

Scenarios:
A.)   Boston leaves as quickly as she can?
B.)    Boston ignores him and hopes he will go away?
C.)    Boston talks to Jason and then tells her friends she’s been dating him?
D.)    Share a similar experience you or a friend might have had in this same situation.

 Example:
B.  She pretends like she doesn’t see him, because he might not be coming to see her.
